The Spencers Wood Local History Group was asked if it would research and write this book, on the Wesleyan Methodist village chapel that has existed in the village for 151 years. We were very pleased to do so.

Patricia Green took on the task, with Dor & Betty Evans telling the majority of the story. When Betty died, in 2011, her daughters arranged a service of Thanksgiving for her life in the chapel, and gave a donation in her memory. The community have used that as a gift to produce the book about the Chapel.

The History group carried out some additional research, and met with other members and the book puts together the story of the chapel and the people

who made it part of their lives.Three Mile Cross Chapel

It was launched at the last official service of the Chapel on Sunday 2nd May 2013.

It is now available at a cost of £5, or from Mrs Dor Evans (0118 988 3422) or via the group on our usual email (spwood.localhistory@googlemail.com).

If via post, please add £1.50 for p&p & cheques should be made payable to Three Mile Cross Methodist Church, or it will be available from the group at any of our Summer Events.

Patricia Green (middle of the picture below) from our group has been responsible for the writing of the book, and sourcing the content from the group (Dor Evans is shown here on the right).

Professor Iwen Williams  has overseen the whole project.Launching the book from the Chapel
